Don’t Fall in Love With Your Photos
We all love and praise our accomplishments, going all the way back from the time we were children. “Look what I did!” It’s human nature and it is healthy. However, it’s not a useful attribute when attempting to look at your work with an eye towards becoming a better photographer and it certainly isn’t any help when assembling a portfolio or client submission. If you are unwilling or unable to see the flaws in your photos, you will probably not improve. You will invariably be judged not by the best photo in your portfolio but by the weakest. Models, that goes for you as well. The impact of ten good photos of you will be diminished by an eleventh that is not as good. As the saying goes: “less is more”, especially if the less is your better work…
