GETTING INSPIRED: Evelyn Bencicova’s Stunning Twist on Fine-Art Photography [NSFW]
Not all images portraying nudes are oozing sexuality. Where does it become artistic? And who gets to decide if it’s “art” or simply “prurient”? A less sexual way of portraying female form/nudes can actually be the right direction for the fine-art market and galleries who exhibit such works. The demographics are usually split in two since not everyone recognizes the artistic beauty as much as those who only admire the nudity. Form overtakes lust and the artistic perception becomes the driving force.
Evelyn Bencicova, a 21-year-old photographer, born in Bratislava and based in Berlin, takes photographs with the drama of Theodore Gericault’s “Raft of the Medusa” and the dark eroticism of Salvador Dali‘s “Voluptuous Death,” as if designed to get voted up many times on Reddit.
We are hypnotized by Bencicova’s surreal human-scapes and their particular brand of spooky-sexy composition which does appeal to the artistic side of our brain and piques our ultimate interest. This is what happens when measuring art up and down. We find it quite intriguing and very well done.
Fine-art images, as far the marketplace goes, can be a very lucrative and validating … assuming that you are selling. There is more art offerings in the market than actual demand, but if you are lucky enough to find yourself a reputable gallery to represent your work and who believes in you as an artist, then you might find yourself a niche in one of the most sought after marketplace in the world of photography. Fine-art photography in a top level gallery is considered one of the highest achievements that any photographer can accomplish.
