Pirelli Calendar Returns for 2015
After taking a break for their 50th-anniversary calendar last year, Pirelli is back in 2015 with a heavy fashion bang, featuring top models as well as some new new faces.
The famed Pirelli Calendar photographs are taken by Steven Meisel and styled by Carine Roitfeld for 12 of the world’s top high-fashion models which include: Adriana Lima, Natalia Vodianova, Raquel Zimmermann, Isabeli Fontana, Sasha Luss, Anna Ewers, Carolyn Murphy, Cameron Russell, Gigi Hadid, Candice Huffine, Karen Elson and Joan Smalls.
For models and photographers alike, it’s always an honor to be part of the legendary calendar. Only a few of the greatest photographers chosen by Pirelli have their name on it. Often people confuse Pirelli for the tire company, which is exactly who they are… It’s their baby and a brilliant way to market tires and other products through their famed calendar, probably the most recognizable in the world by now.
Previously, Pirelli calendars offered a nice artistic vision. Since we have not seen the final calendar, we question if the fashion-bang will hold to it’s legacy.
About Pirelli Calendar:
The Pirelli Calendar is a trade calendar published by the Pirelli company’s UK subsidiary. It has become an annual publication that dates back to 1964.
The calendar is famous for its limited availability, as it is only given as a corporate gift to a restricted number of important Pirelli customers and celebrity VIPs. The Pirelli Calendar pictures are generally considered glamour photography including artistic nudes.
Publication was discontinued after the 1974 issue as an economizing cut-back in response to the world recession from the oil shock. It was resurrected 10 years later and has been published regularly since then.
The entire calendar was shot in New York City and will debut in November.
